Ohio State’s Field Trips!

In October, we went to the NYC Fire Museum to learn about fire safety.  We also got to visit a local fire house and see the firemen at work.

In November, we visited the Children’s Museum of Manhattan and learned about what makes arches so strong.  We got to make arches of our own to take home!

In December, we visited the Bronx Botanical Gardens and learned about rainforest plants.  We even got to plant our own rainforest plant and make rain sticks.

In January, we visited the Museum of the City of New York and learned about what life was like for kids in NYC a long time ago.  We worked together to make a mural of what our neighborhoods look like after we saw a mural from NYC neighborhoods from a long time ago.

 In February, we visited the American Museum of Natural History to learn about dinosaurs and fossils.  We got to see fossils and figure out if they were from animals that ate meat or plants.

In March, we went back to the Bronx Botanical Gardens to learn about chocolate and vanilla plants.  We tasted bitter hot chocolate, then got to make it taste sweet all by ourselves.  We also got to take home vanilla beans and cocoa nibs.

In April, we visited the Bronx Zoo and learned about animal adaptations.  We visited monkeys, snow leopards, cranes (with a baby crane!), tigers, swans, and polar bears.
